Vanishing transport window

Regularly, and for no apparent reason, the transport window either vanishes completely (and the transport menu doesn't help) or appears completely empty.

I have to quite & relaunch to restore it.

The transport window should not disappear. We have seen this problem very sporatically and cannot get it to consistently repeat. This will be fixed as soon as we can narrow it down.

For now the workaround is:

Select float transport window from the switches menu so that it does not float. This will make it reappear without restarting. If you want it to float then select this option twice.

I believe I have narrowed this down. It seems to be related to the mousewheel. Has anyone seen this problem who does not have a mousewheel?
