Metro Full Version?
It has notation. Why look for something more expensive?

Hi françois,

Which version of Metro and OS are you using? The full version of Metro (running on OSX) has a Notation window from which you can print. Since it sounds as if your notation needs are fairly basic, using Metro (even if you need to upgrade your version) may be the easiest and most cost effective approach.

Sorry Scoot . . . your post wasn't there when I started typing.

Anyway, upgrading Metro (if you're not already using the full version) has many more benefits in addition to notation.

Hi françois,

In Metro, you import a Midi file, then Print (you don't even have to open the Notation window . . . it opens automatically). That's about as simple as it gets. Maybe you want to do more than you original question suggests.

Anyway, if Overture works for you, good luck. Let us know how it goes.

What do you want to do in notation?

I once had to do some notation for someone from a midi file, and after about 15-20 minutes I put text on the score and figured out what was wanted.

I don't think it was too bad.
I do remember doing some notation out of a book and couldn't reproduce a certain beat..........it was some kind of triplet but this was with version 5......and I can't remember what it was exactly. It didn't look right.....but the timing was correct so I assumed it was the same note with a different appearance to the book.

You can certainly take a score and transfer it into midi tracks in Metro.

I can't be more detailed........I'm more of a record the notes from a synth type of person.

you can try overture démo, as you want, I think there is no limitations, and by printing the screen you can obtain a good page.
can you define with metro the number of system per page, and the measures per system ?
can you decrease the number of pages for print ?
can you optimize staves ?
can you respace the staves ?

Overture is great for anything, I use this software since years and years. Score Writer is a lighter and cheaper version that can be an alternative if your needs aren't that sophisticated. It is surely faster and easier than the others you listed.
I think that the Metro notation was built from Overture in the Cakewalk days. Is it right?

Yes. Overture is a lot more powerful for notatiion. Metro is not a notation program but rather a DAW that does notation.

ALMAPERCUS, could you also tell me how to do that with overture ?

- select an location in graphic editor

- Com/Opt E

- type A# (then enter key) and watch it appear

if you add another chord in the same place it does add to what is already there........so undo is probably required first.
