my mixing board is not updating in 6.3.1.1

I started MSE 6.3.1.1 with the stock OSX Music sample and viewed/worked with the mixing board.

Then I closed it out and imported a unrelated midi file.

When I opened up the mixing board I thought it would be the set to go for the new midi file.

The mixing board still showed all the tracks etc for the previous project ( BlueThing Using DLS ).

No doubt I am doing something wrong somewhere because I could not get the mixing board to refresh.

At this time I would also like to ask how can I make the mixing board show just the current tracks in the project. If I need a track I should be able to include it in the mixing board. I generely build a song one track at a time so I don't need the board showing me, let say, 24 non existing tracks. Here again I more then am not setting my board up correctly.

Go NEW instead of Import and metro will go back to your 'normal' start settings. With import, metro is assuming you want it the way it is setup at the importing time.

With the mixing board showing all the redundant tracks.......the best thing to do is take a wild guess at which ones you need and work something like this.....

OK......I want 4 quicktime tracks and 2 audio tracks.

go to the SPECIAL menu and select - Modify Ouputs and Busses and do this...........the important thing is the tick on replace existing.

If you want to add more to any output, like for the midi side of things, remember you have used 1,2,3,4 so add the next outputs starting with 5...........and remember to untick the replace existing. Adding 3 more midis here.
Any extra midi tracks would go at the end of the mixer. Just drag the name of the fader along to get all the midi faders together.

You could even go a step further and once you have all the tracks, Virtual instruments and everything else setup the way you want, save and name the file with an extension of .msd for metro stationary document. Then whenever you open that document everything will be the way you want it and there is no danger of saving over it because when you save, SE will prompt you for a new name.

Scoot and Jerm,

What would I do without your help.

Thanks.

I'll "fiddle" around with your instructions as soon as I get back to me computer/midi gear.

Those screen shots are a tremendous help.

Perhaps Metro/Sagan could provide some "templetes" with the programme just to get going.
Using "factory" templates is a great way to get a heads up. DigitalPerformer and Cubase have them.

When ever I use my MIDISport 8x8 with Metro SE/LX it has been a nightmare because there is a midi track created for every piece of gear I've got loaded/setup in MIDISport.

That's a computer doing some forward thinking.
