Metro 6.22 vs KORG KONTROL49

Postby Territan » Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:24 pm

(I swear, that name is so Bauhaus...)

Here's the situation: I went out and bought myself a fancy MIDI controller -- a fancy word for a keyboard that doesn't actually do anything by itself. It works well with Reason, but I can't get it to recognize in Metro.

I know there's a way to do this, too, such that anything I hit on the KONTROL49 is actually played by Metro in the selected instrument. I've actually been able to do this before, long ago, and now I don't remember how.

Can anyone tell me what horrendously obvious thing I'm missing?

The computer, by the way, is a 1.67GHz Powerbook G4 fully loaded, so let's assume massive latency isn't a problem.

First make sure in the MIDI setup dialog you have the KONTROL49 selected from the 'record from' popup.

If you do not see KONTROL49 then you need to re-configure your Audio MIDI setup dialog.

Then in the switches menu make sure there is a check mark next to 'Automatic MIDI thru'. Now when you record-enable a track MIDI thru will follow to the record-enabled-track's output.

You can change the latency in the device-option dialog. This dialog is located in the audio setup dialog accessed from the setup menu or by typing ctrl-A.

Jerm,

This is only with the full version of Metro, right?

No, the previous instructions should work with all Metro versions including SE and LX.

Also, you might want to go look under "Record Criteria..." (Special menu) and make sure all of the MIDI data types you want are checked. Otherwise, you might find that notes work, but the knobs and buttons don't. In particular, if I remember right, System Exclusive is not checked in the as-shipped defaults.
