It's the PCR-1 - 25-key USB interface. It's only got 1/8" inputs and outputs, but then so has the Emagic I'm using at present. Do you know if it works with Metro, as in, control surface functions? - I assume the audio/MIDI interface bits are OK.
The Emagic has been behaving itself of late, but I need a keyboard...would I be better off simply buying a USB/MIDI keyboard? Hmmmm.
OK the PCR looks fine.....but do you think you might want more octaves on it?
Would something like a Evolution MK-149 be better for you?
I can pick these up for the equilvalent of half the price of the PCR.
Just a thought.
Most of my midi input is on a budget mini key, 4 octave, midi out only 'toy'.
It doesn't have velocity but for the price and the size it is used way more than my full sized synth which is so bulky you can't just stick it above the mac keyboard. lol
I hear what you say, but I am no keyboard player! I looked at that Evolution keyboard and was pretty impressed, but...
I think I may go with a small MIDI-only kbd, with plenty of controls, so I can run my software from it. If my audio interface gives more problems, I'll get a Tascam US-122.
Personally, I'd stay away from trashcan,,, ooops, I mean tascam (notice the scam).
Just kidding (kinda). I guess it all boils down to what you are most comfortable with... both monitarily as well as physically.
BTW, I use a wind MIDI controller (yamaha WX5)
I guess it's one of those 'your mileage may vary' things. I've heard good stuff about that particular Tascam and bad things about e.g. M-Audio and vice-versa.
Pleased to hear you're controlling your wind. (English joke.)
Cheaper than the Edirol, no audio, (still the Emagic interface seems to be behaving OK with Metro) but makes a big point of control for software sequencers.
Now the 6.3 pre-release is out, I may have to actually make a decision!
