Hi Jerm and Scoot,

I spent very little time in one place all last year. most places i played had no english, mac, or internet hookups. my progress has been slow and frustrating. good news ... now i am stationary and hooked up to the internet.
my setup is Metro 6.2.2 , mac g4 running 10.3 and a korg triton le version 1.5.
right now i am trying to assign different korg instruments to the 16 metro tracks. of course then i can learn midi and audio recording. I've spent the last week reviewing our old correspondence, checking the picture examples you made for me and trying to get a basic hookup happening.

Midi Setup- it seems to work. the 'test setup' icon makes an approriate beeping sound.
Questions
1 in 'propreties' under under 'features' i ticked general midi. is that ok?
2 what about the box about system exclusive id? I found something about it in the korg manual. do i type in the big long series starting with F7 or just the id itself which is 42?

Modify Outputs and Aux Busses- under outputs i checked add and then checked the box beneath. i typed in 16 Outputs on Port and chose korg triton for the box to the right. i allocated 1 stereo aux bussed on 'built in audio" simply because that was the only choice. shouldn't it be the korg?
Questions
1 should i tick off the 'replace existing' box?
2 in the 'named' box i tried to type triton but it kept dissappearing. was i doing the right thing?
3 the metro manual said to check the box 'make outputs reflect midi setup document'.. of course i didn't but what happens if i do?

At this point i made a little single track piano recording (for some reason the metronome would not sound) using the korg sounds. i scrolled the korg to an organ then strings during playback and the instruments changed accordingly.
I thought i was on the right track even though i'm feel i am really flailing about in the dark.

Program Names- this window seems really tough. I went inside the instruments and drumkit folder and saw a list of about 8 triton files.

Question
1 do i need all of them?
2 what do i do with all this stuff?

Well that's all for now . I thank you in advance for you help in and look forward to it too!

I would just need to review..............

you have the audio/midi setup correctly so that you're getting the triton to communicate happily within metro and actually input?

You need to decide which outputs/ports you require for your setup. If you start by modifying outputs and busses you need to know whether or not you want to have internal (quicktime sounds) as an option, how many audio tracks you want and 16 added for the triton.

Lets say you have 16 internal, 16 audio and 16 triton outputs. That's fine. You could add all of them at once in the 3 allocated areas and select 'replace existing' so any ones you had originally would be replaced with the newly created ones. Once you have done it look at your mixer and see the outputs are there.

The aux bus is only available to an audio output device, so this would either be the mac built-in or something like an external audio device like a MOTU 828 with 8 audio ins and outs.

The programs names dialog works once you set the popup to the triton (the audio/midi setup name). Then you can open a program names file that closely matches your synth and get the instruments to other ones............the on playback the synth program (instrument) will change.

If you import a midi file and all the tracks are mapped to the internal sounds, just change them in the tracks window to the triton outputs and all of a sudden the sounds start coming out the triton on playback....and the faders in the mixer window adjust the volumes.

The metronome probably does not work because it is outputting to the wrong audio output. To fix this, select your default audio output device on any track by selecting edit orginal and select the device. Then visit the Metronome dialog box, select factory settings and then ok. The Metronome should sound now. Alternatively you can output to a MIDI device in the Metronome dialog.

As for program names you should try and find a Triton LE instrument (.ins) file on the net as this will most closely match your device. Don't forget to save preferences after loading the correct .ins file.

hi guys,

this is Jude again ( metro 6.2.2 , korg triton le , and mac g4 operationg on os 10.3) i had to get a new email server because my server was giving me so much trouble logging in.

i believe the audio midi setup is correct .the test setup beeps appropriately.
in Modifying outputs and busses i set up 16 korg 16 internal and 16 audio.
the mixer showed the new setup. then i set up the 48 outputs in the track window.
Program names was next, i opened up a triton ins. file and it kind of all came together ....it will take a while to sort all this out. it is too new and overwhelming. if you have any comments or advice please give it .

thanks, talk to you soon.

Hi Scoot and Jerm,

Today I tried to record using triton sounds. in Program Names I chose bank A from the triton combo inst, files. In the track window the instruments I assigned to the program window sounded differerent than the ones I chose from the list. The mixer lights were present.
I was able to match program names to track names except on track 10. I tried to program a drumkit and math it to the name window but attack piano came up as the name. Also, this track did not sound though the record levels on the mixing board were present...And the mute button was off (?).

So things are working...sort of but incorrectly. Is there an inst. file for the korg triton le 88 key model ? maybe the file was not specific enough.

I appreciate your help. jude.

There is a Korg le (triton le) sitting here............

http://www.cakewalknet.com/index.php?pa ... instrument

Are the drums inside a triton le, in and amongst the other instruments?
If so, makes me wonder if they have to go on track #10
(try it on #10 and if it doesn't work try #1)

eg.

[Korg Triton Le C]
0=C000 Comp Trance Stab
1=C001 Classic Piano
2=C002 Arp Twins
3=C003 Stereo Strings
4=C004 House Kit <<<<<<<<<<<--------
5=C005 Bazooka Bass
6=C006 Burnin'Brass
7=C007 Gospel Perc Organ
...
...
...
18=C018 Organ Impact
19=C019 Euro 8va Bass
20=C020 Jazz/Brush Kit <<<<<<<<<<<--------
21=C021 Aaah Voice ST
22=C022 Muted Trumpet

HOPE THIS WORKS!
Once you get the .ins that works for you, everything else falls into place. :)
