Looking for recommendations

Postby jukehouse » Fri Mar 25, 2005 7:52 am

I just started working with midi in my Metro program. I've worked with midi in the past but primarily with external hardware devices (sequencers, samplers, etc synced to my ADAT {in the old days}).

I have a M-Audio pro 88 Keystation. I'm looking for some recomendations on software.

Here's what I'm interested in having:
1. something that works easily inside Metro
2. (primarily) A full range of piano and organ sounds
3. Bass sounds (secondary concern)
4. Drum kits (also secondary concern)
5. Reasonably cost effective

Any of you Midi-philes have any suggestions.

I would have thought the one thing that sticks out straight away is sampletank itself.

But if it's too expensive then go to the trouble of downloading various soundfonts........and picking and choosing your sounds from them.

There is a new competitor out there......but I'll post it in another message.

Sample Tank

Postby jukehouse » Fri Mar 25, 2005 4:27 pm

I've been looking at Sample Tank. It does seem to be broad in what it offers but having limited experience with soft synths I wanted some ideas from folks that have been using this stuff.
It's all new to me !

The nice thing about sampletank is it has effects built in......so you can work within one window to tweak the instrument sound.

Of course you can throw other effects behind it if you like......something like the matrixreverb is always a goodie.
