Midi Clock and Plug-ins

I use Metro slaved to midi clock from my MTDR.
Up to now it's worked great. The audio gets recorded on the digital recorder, and the midi backup band plays along in sync. (Life is good).

Recently I bought iDrum. As a drum machine plug-in, it can't be beat.
But now the midi clock quit working. If the iDrum track is deleted, the midi clock starts working again! After adding and deleting the plug-in track a few times, I noticed that adding any audio track causes the same problem.

Am I trying something that midi sequencers can't do?
Is it because Metro needs to supply midi clock to a plug-in, and so can't rcv it at the same time?

Metro can only sync MIDI to incoming clock not audio. When an audio track is added, Metro will automatically sync MIDI to the audio. Some application will sync to MIDI clock with audio by changing the sample rate of the audio which in many cases can sound very strange. Your best bet, IMHO, is to import all of the tracks from the MTDR (which I am not sure what this is) into Metro and use the audio sync.

Since my powerbook is a little under-powered for audio, would like to keep the audio tracks on the MTDR (AKA Multi-Track Digital Recorder). Did some testing this morning and found that Metro will supply a midi clock 'out' even with the internal audio sync mode required when a plug-in is hooked up.

If I can get the digital recorder slaved to the clock supplied by Metro, all is well anyway.

It's great to have alternatives...
