Loop Record problems

Postby twaboom » Sun Jan 16, 2005 12:34 pm

I can't get loop recording to work. I select a range, set the record mode, loop mode, tracks max to 10 or more. l then go to loop options, set the number of loops to 5 or more (or infinite), enable loop recording on the transport bar and then try and record. It always plays the range once and stops. When I go back and check the loop options, loop has been reset to 1 time. What am I doing wrong (besides being dense!)?

Twaboom,

The loop options, from the menu, is for playback only. You need to set the loop recording checkbox in the transport.

I do have loop recording enabled in the transport. When I start recording I get the loop record window and it shows the correct number of loops to count down, I hear the metronome and it does record...but only for the first time through...the loop number does not decrement before the recording stops and the loop screen dissapears??

I believe the selection is important when you press record as this will be the amount of time loop recorded.

I've been double checking that as well. I've tried it both ways, selecting a range in the track editor, and using the base default track length. I've checked the selected range in the punch in window and also in "set selection" in the pull down edit menu and they check out. It's been a long time since I've used loop record, but I remeber it as being pretty simple. Is there any chance I "broke" Metro and should reinstall?

I don't know if this means anything but trying to loop record also switches the sync mode in the transport bar from internal to audio.

Try changing the metronome to a MIDI output. I will look into this further in the next couple of days to see if there is a problem. I am pretty sure re-installing will not do anything.

Changing the metronome dosn't seem to help. I realized that the sync mode switches from internal to audio as soon as I play something so it's not just a record or looping issue.

It seems to work fine for me.

Try renaming the Metro Preferences file to .old or something.

You need to provide more details: Are you using soft-synths? What is the device you are trying to loop record? If it is not a new empty document, can you email me that and your preferences file?

Ok, loop record does not work with soft-synths... yet. Thanks.
