ok, here's what I need. I have a yamaha aw16g that I will be recording my vocals in to. this is only a 16 track though, so what I am wanting to do is find a program that I can install on my power mac g4 so that I can record into the yamaha then dump the tracks into the mac to edit and mix from there. that way I can have more then 16 tracks, and I can actually see everything. Can I do this with this program? how good is it for editing and mixing multi tracks? and is there any way to actually hook the yamaha up to the mac and run this program? please help
Well, it depends on the Yamaha. It looks like you can output .wav files as separate tracks to the built-in CD-R. If this is true, simply export all the tracks as individual wav files and import them into Metro. You should be good to go at that point.
mr. bilistic wrote:yea, it can do that. how many individual tracks would I be able to put into metro? and does metro have any effects? eq? compression? etc?
The number of tracks depends on which Metro product you have a license to. Here is the comparison chart.
As for effects, EQ, Compression and Reverb are included with OS X 10.2 or greater. Check out our links page for links to excellent free (and commercial) plug-ins.
The true usefulness of something like Metro comes from the variety of options you have.
You can fill it with free or cheap effects and add soundfonts containing new instruments to use or create sounds you never had before.
I don't know anything about the yamaha you have and how it works but you may decide later to go toward a firewire interface like a 828 from www.motu.com and do your multiple inputs from there......or if you have PCI slots a 24I/O.
