MOTU Traveler

Looks like MOTU has a new portable interface called the traveler.
I was hoping that it would finally be MOTU's less expensive sibling to the
828mkII, but at $849, it's actually $100 more! Is it worth that much to have a firewire powered portable interface? It looks great, though and I'd love to get my hands on one!

I looked at some of the features, and it looks like it has quite a bit more than the 828.. The 828 runs at 96 kHz, the Traveler runs at 192. The 828 has 2-48v mic pre's, the traveler has 4.... Sounds like a good deal to me.. what with portability and all. And I just went and got a 828 mkII.

Is the price based on how many fancy lights the item has?

It does seem to be packed.

For rack users - How easy is such a device in a rack with having side connectors? Is it not a full rack length? Looks like it has quite a dog ear for mounting.

I'm in the process of deciding if I should buy the traveller or firepod ( http://www.presonus.com/firepod.html ).

At the moment firepod is tempting because it comes with software albeit lite versions.

My audio inputs/outputs requirements are very small and would be require no more than 8 in and outs.

Budget is a serious factor and need to stay under a thousand dollars.

Any suggestions or other recommendations?

Does Presonus have a good track record for producing solid Mac drivers for their interfaces? MOTU has been at it a long time and might be more reliable.
