record bug

Postby kaboombahchuck » Mon Oct 11, 2004 12:38 am

In 6.2.1.7 I can record a track, or import one, and everything is fine. But when I activate the "software audio thru" I loose the ability to monitor or record another track. When software audio thru is first chosen I can hear the audio tracks previosly recorded, and can monitor what's going to be recorded (armed track) while playing the track, but then the play thru will cut out after a bit. Once I choose to record the track, nothing. I can still hear the original tracks, but no record of new track, no monitoring. Then if I turn off the play through still nothing.

I recently lost the ability to click/activate a track to record.....but I think it had to do with someone elses setup that I was looking at.....after he sent me one of his midi files.

Could also be a Jaguar hiccup.

Everything seems ok now though.

Sorry no help but I just thought I mention a recent problem. I was also low on disk space at the time.......if Metro takes notice of this fact before allowing the R to work.

The thing is I did not have this problem with previous Metro updates..
I'm running Panther.
I have over 50 gigs of free disc space.
I have 1 gig of ram.

I would try turning off overload protection in general preferences after I turned down the headphones volume.

Let me look into this further. Are you using any internal ports? Have you tried routing the Metronome to a MIDI device (not using the factory default)?

This is probably because the track was set to movie and you do not have any video input hardware.

That will be it.
From Francois's setup metro would have picked the closest choice to his audio firewire device......and I just clicked ok.

if it is loose then tighten it. Just kidding.

This works fine for me in 6.2.1.7.

cut out? I am not sure what you mean.

Can you possibly email me the smallest compacted bundle file that still reproduces this problem? If I am able to reproduce we can fix it, if it is indeed a Metro problem.

Probably from cars......cutting out - ignition problems - spark not getting through.

Yes.. cut out / no longer hear. Seems like the VU continues working, but I'll check on that one again.

I'll work up a quick bundle and send it out. Probably 3 tracks @ ~ 30 sec. The first 2 tracks will be done without audio thu, the last with.

Ok, I sent the bundle to administrator@sagantech.com. It is ~ 6 MB and is titled Bug Bundle. I noticed when loading the bundle that software thru is not checked, but when I do select it the problem is still there.
BTW, don't make fun of it... just something I threw together.

Problem solved  I put the Metro folder in HD so the metro icon would appear in the dock. I was activating metro from the dock...
When I go to metro folder and open metro from there, no problems.

Should I check out the bundle anyway or not?

You were launching an old metro version before?
