Saving external synth presets with Metro 6

Just lost a bunch of presets on a RAM card for my external synth due to battery failure. For future reference, can Metro 6 be used to save banks of presets? I've never done this before.
By the way, what is the status of Librarian/Editors for OS X?
Are there any and will they work with Metro?

Yes, you can save synth data as sysex in Metro. Simply press record in Metro (make sure sysex is set to record in record criteria) and then initiate a dump on the external synth. The dump will appear after stop is pressed.

As for librarians I do not know.

Jerm, how about when you want to dump the info back into your synth? What is the procedure?

Press play. Note that if is a large sysex (e.g., data dump) it may affect the timing of your sequence so leave a lot of space in the sequence before the music starts.

I have also learned by experiencing some dumping problems here that it is best to record at slow speeds and playback the sysex data at the same recorded speed.

Or, maybe it's just my synths. Some sysex dumps are so huge for example an XP80 that the synth can't swallow all that data being dumped back into the synth. Whereas when the data being played back is slow it allows the synth to absorb all that data. However as I said it may just be my synths.

Yes. That is correct. Many synths have buffers that will overflow if data is send too rapidly.

Thanks for re-affirming my thoughts here. I thought it was just my Roland gear that was soooo fussy.
