Any Triton users?

Postby Biffer » Mon Sep 27, 2004 8:38 pm

I've got a new (used) Korg Triton (floppy drive..no cd) and I'm trying to figure out different ways to transfer data. From checking other posts here I see that data can be saved via midi.sysex into my metro 6. Have any triton users here tried this and can everything be saved this way (sngs, seq, prog, comb etc)? I also see that there is a computer cable connection on the Triton. Would that be a better way?

Thanks

Yes. I have a Triton. You can use the MIDI cable to transfer sysex data back and forth. This is the best way to transfer data. The computer port would only be necessary if you do not have a MIDI interface.

My daughter put a paper clip in my floppy drive and it totally destroyed the drive. I replaced the drive myself but it was not easy, nor cheap about $100 I believe.

The drive is used to keep a library of sounds and to update the triton's OS. It is very useful. You can also transfer MIDI files from your mac on to it as long as the floppy is in PC format.

Jerm, have you tried downloading 3rd party files, such as programs and voices and then put them into your Triton? If so, do you do that just using your floppy or can you do that via midi as well? I downloaded a hammond voice/program from tritonhaven and it is too big to fit on a floppy so can't see how to transfer it to the Triton.

Usually downloads like this come with instructions on how to load them.

If it has sysex in it you can use the Metro command from the file menu, 'insert sysex file' to load the data and then if the track is assigned to output to the triton, pressing play will send the data to the triton.
