"Qualifying" Bug ?

Postby Sami23 » Fri Mar 14, 2003 12:34 am

After I downloaded 4.0.5i4 I ran it from another drive and was prompted to qualify it (my "downloads" folder is kept away from my main X drive). I'd thought that the proggy should have found my initial qualification "stuffs" on my main drive... but went on and qualified it :( I got it started and opened a file to play with for a few minutes and then exited the program. A short while later I copied it over to the sub folder of "Applications" where I keep my audio programs and attempted to run it again.

I was asked to Qualify this copy, so did that. Since then I have ran the program twice sucessfully.

I have now started it a 3rd time and "Bingo!"... I'm asked to Qualify it once more :(

Thankfully my email runs pretty fast, but, if this qualification doesn't take, I'm tempted to to keep Metro running in the background just so I don't have to re-qualify it no mo'... heehee :D

Metro correlates the preference file with the hard drive it is running on. Thus, if you run from one drive you will need to qualify, then if you run from another drive, you will need to requalify (overwriting the original preferences qualification) and so on...

Moral: Install on one drive and run from there.

Note also that Metro will not ever install permanently on a removable drive.

Hi Jeremy...

That's what I kinda figured... but was thrown off after Qualifying the program on my main drive, running it twice with no probs and then being prompted to re-qualify last evening on my 3rd run. Must have been "a momentary laspe of reason" somewhere :)

Thanks for the feed back ;)
