Notation Setup Window question

Postby Gerald angus » Sat Jul 10, 2004 9:04 pm

I want a notation setup that looks like a piano sheet, G clef (treble) on top and F clef (bass) on the bottom I have somehow ended up with 2 G clefs and can't change the bottom one to a F or Bass clef. The docs refer to a pop-up menu but can't seem to find it.

With the cursor tool (arrow) double click on the clef and the dialog box called - "Setup Notation Track" opens.

Yes, I get there too.. but after that, what?
There are no other options at that point to alter any clefs that I can see.
And where is/are the "popup" as refered to in the Metro docs?
Thanks for your help thus far

You have the setup notation track dialog box open?

Click on the clef on the right.

A set of 14 boxes appear with 13 clef options and a space holder in the last.

You can also get to the setup notation track from the special menu.

Replying to myself here, just to add:
Using G4 2.1.3 but happens with 2.1.2 also.
Could the problem be at all related to having Aloisen or the gray Aloisen in the wrong place?
thanks

once again

Postby Gerald angus » Mon Jul 19, 2004 9:00 am

and yet a little more, but I would really like to get this cleared up.
I also realized that I do not even get those popup menus on my Notation Window like for note selection etc.
I'm missing that too right?
thanks, tab

Metro G4 is the full metro version?
(I mean it's not G4 SE?....if there is such a thing)

Panther is 10.3.?

My Aloisen is in the fonts folder in OS9 on my machine.

Yes, restarted...

Postby Gerald angus » Mon Jul 19, 2004 1:47 pm

Yes, I did a restart after checking font locations.
Also, I Did notice that if I load a music file that has 2 or 3 tracks, each track will be on a separate staff and clef in the notation window and that when I bring up the setup window I can page through each track with a "Previous" or "Next" button box and can see different clefs on occasion but there is still no popup menu available to CHANGE them if I want. Yet the docs say that clef changes are available...
However, I am generally quite impressed with the notation addition to Metro and over-all it works quite well actually.
I do a lot of music that starts with writing in the notes rather than recording them and used "Encore Finale" for a while but Finale was a little weak with MIDI back then. I was just trying to find out if I had things set up wrong or perhaps my system was corrupt.
Thanks for all the help here.

Make sure you only have one version of metro available to you at a time.....mainly the latest one I guess.....if you trust it.
It should do notation clef changes.......well it does them here.

Have you....or are you willing to throw away you metro prefs?
You will have to resubmit your authorization......but at least everything is then back to original in case thats where the problem lies.
It can sometimes do wonders for dumb computers.

As in the above picture, if you click where the arrow cursor is, you do not :? get the clef popup as shown?

Right, if I click there, nothing happens at all. On one occasion a treble clef changed to a treble clef with an 8 under it when I got back to the notation window.... that was a little strange too.

Also, on that "one version availible at a time " well, I have 5 older versions in a folder above the latest version that I am using. Should that matter ? or should I trash them or hide them somewhere, just in case ?
thanks

It would pay to compress and archive the older versions while fault finding. Older documents could open up older versions of metro and Jerm could be telling you it will work (and he may be talking about the newest version with a bug fix) and you've accidently launched an older metro.

This can sometimes stuff up the registration process too.

A clef with an 8 under it is on Jerm's graphic....I'd almost call that progress.
