Has anyone here tried/used or using WireTap ?

I find it to be a great/fast/easy way to capture/record audio off the web or from any audio play back source without any heavy duty setup required. Of course the price is right.


After I've made the audio recordings using WireTape and imported the audio file into Metro ( and several other audio playback programs ) the audio playback is just noise although when played thru QuickTime it plays back OK.

Obviously it has something to do with the audio compression settings required in WireTap. There are several choices that can be selected. However I can't figure out what compression settings to use and the built in "help" is of no help to me.


If you are using WireTap could you give me some pointers please.

I just tried wiretap with the latest version of Metro and it worked fine with the default settings. I then it tried it with SE and again it worked fine. I was able to import the IMA 4:1 audio either by dragging the icon to the graphic editor, importing via the file menu or even using the finder's open with command.

If you have a small audio file you want me to try that does not work for you, please email it to me.

Thanks for your reply/interest in my problem.

Obviously I was doing something very very wrong because with your response/encouragemeant I was able to get results ( for now ). However I changed the compression in WireTap to None although I really don’t understand what those compressions that WireTap allows mean.



Incidentally, do you have an URL that can help me understand those compressions that WireTap allows.
Also not sure what those indian settings are all about.
