Metro SE and my Yamaha PSR2000

I would like to be able to select the progame for my PSR2000 from a drop down menu rather then typing in the programme numbers.

How do I do that ?


Is there a "map" for the PSR2000 that I can file somewhere in OS X Panther ?

I don't see the 2000 but other .ins files of PSR models can be found here.

After you download the .ins file, go to the program name dialog (under setup menu) and open the .ins file after selecting the PSR port. For more info on program names Click Here.

Click here to download the Cakewalk Instrument Definition File Pack (620KB).


It will expand with stuffit expander.

PSR2000.ins is inside! :D

Sorry, I should have stated that I need a PSR2000 map for Mac version of Metro SE.



I don't think the .exe files will be recognized by Mac Metro SE.

If you have stuffit expander it will open the file named InsDefs.exe and the PSR2000 ins file is inside.

I didn't say run the .exe in metro.

(I too am on a Mac or I wouldn't be here :wink: )

Where do I file or place that file ? ( Now, be kind in your reply. )

I assume you have the PSR connected to the mac and showing up in audio/midi setup and inside metro?

Setup menu
option - program names

at the optional popup "For port" choose the PSR.
You can then open the .ins file from the open button above.

You can turn on all channels so the PSR can send signals on all 16 channels.

Now in the graphic editor you should have access to the names of the PSR instead of bank and program numbers.

Open preferences and save these settings for future metro sessions so you don't have to go through it again.


(a good place to store the file would be in the program names folder in the metro folder.

OK, I installed/setup the PSR8000v200.ins to be the map for my PSR2000.


Now I;ve got a drop down by name.


I have not examined closely the difference in sound banks for the PSR2000 and PSR8000.


I still can't seem to find that .ins for the PSR2000 on the net.


For now we is happy.

So the one named 2000 doesn't work for a 2000 keyboard?
