Scoot,

Are you using an older Mac, like I am? I'm using a 9600. If so, how did you get your computer to upgrade to OSX? I tried to upgrade mine to 9.2, and the computer said that it wasn't able to. I'm just wondering, just in case I ever want to upgrade this one to OSX before I take the plunge to a new computer.

On another note, do you design websites? If so, do you have a personal/business website? What is the name? What version of GoLive are you using? I've had GoLive 5.0 for quite awhile, but haven't really had the time to learn how to use it. (Too busy trying to learn how to get Metro to work :-)) Have you tried Dreamweaver? If so, which do you like better?

Sorry, so many questions, and I know it's off the topic, but I was just curious.

Sincerely,

Ronnie

The non related questions can be answered if you look at the memberlist and click on scoot (page 1 - 8th person).
You're welcome to email me and we can talk turkey over Golive.

My mac is the first G4 tower. 1999 release.
This is the first time I have had a mac for 5 years without replacement....ok I now have an LCD screen. (Mac Plus, LC, 660AV with PB150 then PB5300....big jump to G4).

I believe most imac's and all G4 towers can run OSX.
B&W 350 G3 towers can too (I think).
I have 2x 350Mhz imacs running panther. (a metro cluster? )

Even some upgrade cards are capable of OSX, either with new drivers or mods. It is probably a bit of a waste of time and definitely a waste of money. Your machine may predate these cards capable of this (I read of it somewhere but it might be a beige G3 they work on).

A dual G4 or a G5 should be your goal especially if you're seriously needing more horsepower. (best time to get a G4 was when the G5's came out and there was a bit of a sale on.....maybe the old G5's will go the same way if/when new ones arrive. Same thng is currently happening to the old emac and ibook models. Dirt cheap).
