Major Problem With External HD & Graphic Editor

Postby fastlanephil » Sat Mar 08, 2003 11:02 pm

When Booting from a external HD (Lacie d2 80 GB) you cannot select portions of the audio files in the graphic editor, only the whole file with command a. I'm using a iBook 600 system 10.2.3. I have 10.2.4 on my internal drive but it's real buggy so i'm waiting for 10.2.5. for the external but I don't think that's the problem. It started as soon as I set it up that way but didn't put 1&1 together. DUH! :(

Can you be more specific? Can you select portions from the tracks window? what happens when you click on a black part of the bar marker? Perhaps you have audio region editing on.

I't getting clearer

I don't think it has anything to do with the hard drives. When you have scubbing selected and audio region editing is off as stated in the help, scrubbing won't work for audio but I can select sections if I click on the gray area above the wave forms. Fast Forward dosen't work in midi or audio tracks either, anytime-it use to!. And my desktop disappeares sometimes when I empty the trash and it locks up from sleep mode sometimes so check it out. It may be my internal drive with 10.2.4. I'll go through it again on my external tomorrow and let you know if it's doing the same thing in 10.2.3.

Both scrubbing and fast forward (currently) require support from the device. In this case core-audio does not support it. Sound manager does. So it will work in OS 9 but not in OS X. We will, in the future, hopefully be able to directly support scrubbing and fast forward but this requires us to implement these things in a different way.

As for the other problems you are encountering, it sounds like those are system related and not Metro related.

No problem. I guess I was confusing OS9 Metro with OSX Metro. Zapped my pram and nothing weird happening lately with the finder.

Fast Forward in OSX

Postby fastlanephil » Wed Mar 12, 2003 8:44 pm

I figured out that you can fast forward in midi in OSX but once you record the midi tracks to audio you loose that function in the midi tracks as well.
