Surround Sound

Postby kaboombahchuck » Thu Mar 11, 2004 7:10 am

Are there any plans on adding the ability to do surround sound?

I know it would require 64 bit (?) to do this. Or maybe there is a way to add a front to back panning as well as left to right.

I'm not in any real hurry yet, but it is something I'm definatly interested in. Maybe Metro 6.2, or Metro 7.

Does Deck require 64 bit? Cause it does it.

I would think it would have more to do with setting up the speaker behaviour - perhaps on a circle or square area with a dot representing the current volume (or the virtual man standing in the room). If the dot was in the middle, all speakers would have the same level. As you drag say northwest, the BR speaker would drop down and the LF would increase along with the centre speaker.......and so on.

As a layout design, lets say you place the virtual room up as a circle.
Then have a popup menu to choose 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 and as you choose this setting have the correct number of faders appear underneath?

I'm wondering if deck is true surround, or simulated.... Also I noticed there is no "connect to deck" option in Metro 6, compared to 5. Is this a big deal?

It seems like most surround editors are set up in a square fasion as you described... I just have a choke hold on the pan nob, and fade nob idea...

I have no idea if this plug is compatible but it seems like Kelly Industries has some surround sound related plug-ins...
