Soundfont bank AND Quicktime in Metro

Postby lplplpx3 » Fri Mar 05, 2004 1:08 am

Ok call me greedy but is there a way I can use sounds from BOTH my soundfont bank and the Quicktime bank in a sequence even though 1 (ie Quicktime) is set as the default? Plan to use Metro 6 LX.

In OS X yes. You can have 2 instances of the DLS MusicDevice loaded (preferably on Aux busses) and load separate soundfonts in each of them.

In this case you would not be using 'Internal' as the port but rather 'DLS' and 'DLS2' once the plug-ins are loaded.

How do I do this? Please explain. What is DLS MusicDevice on how do I load on Aux busses? How do I get 'DLS' and 'DLS2' to show up as ports?

I am a newbie about to purchase your product. Best sequencer I've seen out there...nice, simple interface, no clutter. Cakewalk was the last sequencer I seriously used way back when I owned a 486 and I have been searching for something that just looked right for years on the PC platform but never found anything I liked. Recently moved to Mac and was glad to discover Metro. Would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Mixer showing unnecessary channels...Too wide

Postby lplplpx3 » Fri Mar 05, 2004 6:47 pm

I am jamming. Thanks for your help. Another quick question...in the Mixer window I now have 16 channels and 16 dls, giving a total of 32 faders on the mixer which does not fit across my screen (have to keep scrolling). Is there a way where I can stop the channels/ faders that I am not using from showing, hereby shrinking the mixer width? Thanks in advance.

You could start again by modifying outputs and busses from the menu and say select 4 outputs that replace the ones that are already there.

If you go to the prefs and click save, metro will remember this next time it opens.

or

Go to the mixer window and click on the name of the fader at the bottom of the window, and while holding drag it to a new location nearer the others you use.

This way you don't lose the 16 available for the port.

Or you could click on the name of one and shift-click to select a range. Then you can clear the faders from the edit menu (or the delete menu).
