MIDI tracks

Postby juanchamo » Sun Jan 25, 2004 8:16 am

Hi,
If I'm not wrong, when I import a MIDI file into the Metro SE demo, all the file tracks go into one track.
That's fine for playback, but now, I can't mute a MIDI instrument because all of them are on the same track.
Am I right so far?
How can I import a MIDI file, so that each instrument goes into a different track so that I can edit them individually?
Thanks
Juan

No. Only if the MIDI file is of type 0. Type 1 MIDI files are already separated.

The trick is to use expand by channel. This will separate out all of the tracks based on MIDI channel. You can then mute as you please.

TIP: Set the output port from the tracks window for the first track by using edit port in the outputs column BEFORE importing a MIDI file to have all the tracks automatically be assigned to that port.

Is there a quick way to change the ports once open to multiple tracks?

Say I import a midi file taking up the first 6 tracks and I want all the tracks from 7 onward to become audio, can you hold down a key combination and adjust one track, and get all the others to change as well?
