Sound Fonts application shut down

Postby Gary K. Doty Sr. » Mon Nov 17, 2003 4:19 pm

I recorded 4 midi tracks (organ/bass/guitar/drums) and then I switch them to sound fonts. When I go to quit Metro it comes up that "The Application
Metro G4 has unexpectedly Quit" and sometimes when I load this file is says
"The Application
Metro G4 has unexpectedly Quit"

I have a eMac 700mhz/256meg/Edirol 1x1 midi interface/Edirol 1x1 audio interface. I am running OSX 10.2.8

could it be the sound fonts? I have used them before with no problem.

Thanks

Gary

Can you email me a copy of the document saved before and after you change them to use soundfonts for investigation?

Gary,

I cannot reproduce this problem. Both files load up and play back fine (of course I do not have a QS-1).

There are many problems with what you are doing here though. For what you are doing all you need is 1 instance of the DLS-Soundfont synth installed on an Aux buss. The other problem is that you have no audio outputs. To fix this problem do these steps.

• remove all instances of the DLS-soundfont synth
• add one instance of the DLS to aux 1
• from modify outputs and busses, add 16 outputs on port dls and 1 (or more) outputs on built-in audio
• assign unique outputs (e.g. dls-1, dls-2, dls-3) to all of your tracks.

I have found a problem. Does the unexpected exit (crash) occur when you try to select a program name from the popup?

Jeremy,
sometimes it shuts down when i load the file,
most of the time it will play the files,
but when I go to shutdown Metro under "quit"
it starts to shut down normally but then comes up with
"APPLICATION METRO G4 has unexpectedly quit.
I will set up the DLS soundfonts as you suggested and I will see what
happen

Thanks
Your support is excellant!!!

Since you are in OSX, it might be an idea to send Jerm the crash logs that the console program creates.

Console is usually found in the utilities folder in the applications folder.
Console prefs - enable crash reporting.

A handy tool for programmers to find out what's causing your crash.
