IMPORTANT: The official system requirements have changed as of 6.1.
IMPORTANT: Metro Documents written with this version will NOT be readable in any version prior to Metro/Metro SE version 6.1!
IMPORTANT: This is a pre-release, meaning it has some bug fixes (and possibly features) that were deemed important enough to be released before it could be rigorously tested.
This version will be offered as a free update for all 6.0 users for the time being.
New to this version:
• Complete Panther compatibility.
• New Feature: In the Mix Audio Tracks dialog there is a new button for rendering audio tracks. This will render audio or synth tracks into individual stereo tracks. This is very useful for transferring files to computers that do not have the specific plug-in needed to reproduce the output.
• Brand new (OS X only) plug-ins window. Now uses the OS X data browser. Sortable by manufacturer, name or user defined category. Specify categories by control (right) clicking.
• Revamped Program names dialog with brand new editor that uses the OS X data browser.
• There was a bug previous to this version (OS X only) where program names were not being stored properly. Every attempt has been made to fix this bug so that it is transparent to the user. It is possible in some rare circumstances that you may need to rebuild your program names. However, new to this version Program Names will follow their endpoint devices. So it is now possible to detach a device in AMS and reattach it to another port without losing your program names.
• Define silence was not working properly when the silence was at -infinity. This has been fixed. Remove silence was also not working properly when silence was defined as -infinity. This has also been fixed.
• Metro now import drum sets from .ins files. This makes it very easy to get device specific drum sets loaded. Note that Metro does not export drum sets into .ins files.
• A bug was fixed where a crash could occur when opening up a document saved with a plug-in that has no visible parameters (such as Unity).
• It is now possible to load program names for plug-ins.
• Chords in the marker dialog were not appearing correctly. This has been corrected.
• Metro now imports MIDI data from music player Quicktime documents. It also exports them. There is a bug in QuickTime where it will not always export Music Player data properly. Apple has been notified.
• Because of changes made to OS 10.3 Metro now shows all devices even if they do not have exposed receive MIDI channels. This means that 'reflect studio set up document' may not always build all of your outputs. In this case you will need to add outputs manually.
• Program changes set in MIDI through are now reflected on-screen in the graphic editor program field. This makes it easy to see which program you have selected with your keyboard controller.
• Many miscellaneous enhancements for OS 10.3 (Panther).
• There was a bug where selecting a bank in the graphics editor did not always work.
• The stereo checkbox from the digital audio dialog has been removed. Metro now remembers the last stereo setting selected from the input select column of the tracks window.
• Metro does not automate on archived or muted tracks any more. This was causing a problem when more than one track was assigned to the same output.
• Temporary movies were not being deleted properly in some cases.
