It Would Be Helpful to Have a Demonstration File/Song/Bundle

Postby rlwilliams » Mon Oct 27, 2003 10:31 pm

Jeremy,

Do you know how most programs come with an demonstration of how
the program is supposed to be used? I was wondering if you could post
a bundle demo file of a typical setup/demonstration that you find
helpful in the way most people would be using midi and audio with Metro.

I remember way back in Metro 4.5, it had one called "Love Street", when Metro used to be with Cakewalk. I wasn't really seriously trying to use the computer and audio back then. I'm trying to be serious now, but I don't know how to use this program yet, :).

Are there any other users or new users who would find this useful? If there are users out there, not just Jeremy, who would be willing to share your expertise in a way that is more hands-on and visual, that would be greatly appreciated. I hope this would help more users than just me.

Do you have any examples that you could share?

Sincerely,

Ronnie

I know I would love that! As I said in the previous post, I'm still discovering Metro and such a file would be a very great help!

We do have a OS X demo file that shows how to use the DLS soundfont synth. I will post that and a general MIDI/Audio bundle soon, perhaps today.

OK. Click here to download the DLS SoundFont usage demo music file.
Check back here for a sample bundle file with sample audio within a few days.

Thanks! This indeed is being of great help! I'll be back for the other files you mentioned.

Sorry if you find that I'm slow and asking for more details, but I'm used to BIG companies that are fast on selling their "things" and slow when not backing away when it's time to support what they sell. What I've heard and seen with this demo file is getting me convinced. What's more, the listening hear that you have and the support on this forum seems to be great, much better thant the "biggies"! That's interesting and makes you feel certain that you will be listened to after the purchase, not only before. Thanks again, I'm already saving my money for Metro!

Ok. Sorry it took me so long but I have been busy.

Here is a three and a half minute audio and MIDI demo file that is very big. 23 megabytes. So if you already know how to put together audio and MIDI do not download it. The final output as MP3 can also be found here.

Jeremy,

I downloaded the file, but can't seem to open it. I'm using Mac OS9.1. The download is a .sitx file. Would this have something to do with why I can't expand it? Can you save it as a .sit file? Maybe that would work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Ronnie

Hi Ronnie.

If you're talking about the soundfont download, DLSMusicDevice is a OSX only thing.

Jerm - since the downloads are in a resticted area (www.sagantech.com/music) how would one get to them normally, to see if there is anything written about the downloads.....without directly going to the link and downloading it?

Scoot,

I'm trying to get the audio and midi demo that was posted after the DLSMusicDevice download. The file says "jbbndl.sitx", and I can't expand it.

Any ideas?

Sincerely,

Ronnie

I think Aladdin StuffIt Deluxe Updater 7.0.3 is the only new download that I can use. Stuffit Expander 8.0 looks to be only for OSX.

Jeremy, is it possible to just save the audio/midi demo as a .sit file, usable for me in OS9?

Thanks,

Ronnie

The latest version of expander for OS 9 will open sitx files. I have verified that.

I downloaded the file, it expands alright but as nears the ends, I get an error message saying; "An error has occured while expanding the file "jbbndl.sit" (format error)" Error #17540". So it remains compressed. G5 under OS X.2.8. Any idea? Tried 2 downloads. Thanks!

Jeremy,

I downloaded the latest Stuffit Expander for OS9, and I got the same error message as bach2bach. I'm trying to use OS9.1, G4, 800mhz.

Thanks for all you do to help us out.

Sincerely,

Ronnie
