Begginer - Soundstudio DrumTrack

Postby ccmst » Fri Aug 15, 2003 12:21 pm

I'm new to Metro 6 ME. Just downloaded N_S Drumkit6 soundfont.

I've imported an existing midi file into Metro, and wanted to use the new drums soundfont instead of Quicktime own sample.
I've opened the effects window for the drum track and inserted the Apple DSLMusicDevice from the plug-ins window. Then, I've selected my new soundfont from the existing list of the effects window.

Going back to the track and graph editor windows, I tried to play the song, but the instruments sounds didnt match (cymbals plays with toms, snares with clicks, etc)

Anybody could help?
Maybe I did something wrong.

Quicktime's soundfont is General MIDI, and I doubt the soundfont you are using maps the same keys to samples as Quicktime's GM sounds. Simply download a different soundfont that is GM to get the sounds matched up correctly. Anyone else have any suggestions... or corrections to my advice?

Can you give us the URL where you got the soundfont from?
That way we can check it out and get back to you.

You could go into the graphic editor and where it says 'Notes' at the top of the window, select Drums.
Option click on the drum types on the left to come up with a list of drums available in that kit.

You can open different drum kit maps in the 'drum sets' option under the setup menu. You can also make your own.

Hope that doesn't confuse matters more.

Yes, and once you have a drum set describing the new set you can transpose between (for example, Quicktime) drum names by option-clicking and selecting the new drum set. This automagically maps drum names that are similar such as snare->snare and kick->kick, etc.

CCMST, did you ever get this issue resolved? I would like to try NS Kit too.
