errors opening files

Postby fastlanephil » Mon Aug 11, 2003 12:31 am

I'm trying to open Metro files and am getting a -39 logical end-of-file reached during read operation and -38 file not open. My iBook's HD has been crashing a lot lately and I think I had to rebuild my Metro boot volume where my files also are which is on my Lacie external. Do I have my files in the wrong places so that Metro can't find them? I can record midi and audio files, save and open them no problem so i'm assuming I have thing jumbled up a bit. HELP!

Phil,

I hope you have a backup! If you want I can take a look at the file(s) if you email them to me. I have been able to recover data in the past.

Make sure that you email all the files including audio files if that is where you think the problem is. Preferably, of course, a bundle file (where the audio files are embedded) would be best.

Well there's a service you don't see everyday. :)

Not that I'm hoping I need it.

I'm back!

Postby fastlanephil » Wed Aug 13, 2003 10:59 pm

Well, my iBook bit the dust again last night and it took DW 12 hrs to repair my OSX volume enough so I could even boot up.This time I reinstalled from the ground up on both my 9 and X volumes and then reinstalled my original OSX volume ,which is backed up on the external HD, with CCC. I don't know what has happened but i'm running from my external Metro system which I haven't messed with and the files are working now. I really appreciate your offer and may take you up on it some time. If I continue to have problems i'll send my iBook to MCE Tech for a new HD. The Apple Diag CD says everythings A-OK but this has been going on for months. Time to put my music files on a CD.

-39 error when opening pre-Metro 6 files or bundles.

I have recently discovered that I too can get this to happen with some old bundle files. It is apparently a bug since Metro 6 that is now fixed in 6.1.0.5.
