Audiophile2498 Card issue/driver problem with 6.0.8.1

Postby pseudio1 » Tue Jul 22, 2003 1:50 am

Definitely some compatabilitiy issues there. Had to reinstall 6.0.5 in order to recognize all available ports on my card. (This is on my 733G4 tower,1 gig RAM, under 10.2.6.)

I am using a Tascam US-428 on my new Powerbook with somewhat sketchy results with 6.0.8.1, though not as crippling. I've gotten some strange redraw errors when highligting in the editor, and, to be a little nit-picky, I have to re-check the "Audio record input select" in the sections panel every time I open an existing file. I wish it would remember my set-up.
As a newbie myself to most of this stuff I accept challenges as part of my learning curve, and don't blame the software. All and all I am very pleased with my investment.
Thanks for the good work in progress, it only seems to get better.

Thanks for the report. Could you be a bit more specific though. Which editor? When you say you have to re-select the input select, what do you mean? That the last selected port is not automatically re-selected? If you save the file the input select is maintained when the file is re-opened. You may want to create a template file that you can use for your initial state.

RE: redraw ok, selection prob fixed, yet still a mystery

Postby pseudio1 » Tue Jul 22, 2003 2:42 pm

Thanks for the quick response
I have corrected the redraw prob by resetting the NVRAM of my PB.
The selection issue involved the dropdown menu to the left of the track names window, which allows you to choose which elements of the track are displayed. I had created a template, and that was what was frustrating me for the last week or so. The good news is that after shutting down, unplugging, and resetting my gear(1gh PB,Tascam US-428,EMU XK-6 keyboard), the issue, for now, seems to have been resolved, and my template displays properly.
Thanks again, I appreciate your dedication, and this great forum as well.

6.0.8.2 (not pre-released yet) will automatically remember the widths and positions of columns in the track window upon exit and restore them on application start-up.

Pardon my rambling nature. I have two computers that I alternate between, a 15"1ghz power book, with which I use a Tascam US-428 interface with moderate success using 6.0.8.1, and a 733 G4 tower with the Audiophile 24/96 card installed that I had to reinstall 6.0.5 on(I missed the interim releases). Both machines have 1 Gb RAM.
As per my original post, the 6.0.8.1 release does not list ports properly in the Tracks port window. I get an odd list in the pop-up, starting at 11,12 and so on, similar to the previous post regarding the 24/96 USB version issue.
I apologize for including more than one topic in my original post. I haven't used a bbs since using a Tandy 2000(yikes,wasn't mine I swear) back in the early eighties.
I will limit any further posts to the initial topic.
Thanks for your patience, and help.

Most likely the ports are correct. It is likely that the device is returning the name as Audiophile-1 and Metro is appending a 1 on the end. This would result in Audiophile-11 as the first port and Audiophile-12 as the second port and so forth and so on.
