Port Issue with 6.0.8 and M-Audio Audiophile USB.

Postby MediaUnion » Wed Jul 16, 2003 1:46 am

Hi Guys,

Just updated to the latest version G4 6.0.8 unless Jerm is working hard on .9....

I've got a M-audio Audiophile USB (driver version 1.5.of.15), G4 imac (10.2.6). The Audiophile has one MIDI port called Port 1. The MIDI setup shows the Port 1 in the "record" dropdown. But when I try to modify the Outputs in I can't see my Port 1 on the dropdown. I get Internal, Audiophile, and Movie only. I reinstalled the M-Audio Drivers (Shutdown) and checked with no success.

So I dug out my backup of G4 6.7i1 and reinstalled it. (I had removed it for 6.0.8 ) I get Port 1, Internal, Audiophile, and Movie in the dropdown.

So I jump over to the 6.0.8 and it still doesn't show Port 1 in Modify Outputs.

Is there something I'm missing in between the two versions?

Thanks for all your help in advance,

Not a Bug. It was the M-Audio Driver....

I was dinking around tonight and messing with 6.07i1 and 6.08.1 with the audiophile (AP). Still not working.

Frustrated, I read all the Announcements in the Forum regarding the changes with .8x. Then I downloaded the AP-USB driver off the M-Audio Web site and installed it. I WAS using the driver that came on the (AP) CD. They both are 1.5.0f15 but after installing the downloaded driver, M.81 saw the Port 1. Go Figure.

Thanks for your patience.

There was an issue with 6.0.8 and the MIDIMan USB Driver that turns out to be a bug in the MIDIMan driver. However, I think that 6.0.8.1 works around that bug as long as you do not manually reset the MIDI system with the new button in the MIDI Setup dialog or the re-scan button in Apple's Audio MIDI Setup utility.

Hi Jerm,

Thanks for the reply. I think that I need to get a better handle on MSS functionality with setting up each device. It's great that it looks kinda like OMS...I think.

While messing around with the AP, my Ensoniq EPS, Alesis D4, and Metro in MSS I found that when connecting the EPS to the AP the Port disappeared and I only had access to the EPS and not the D4. It must have been the way I was messing with it. (pre .81 and new driver)

Are there manuals/tech sheets for MSS and patching? (Where's the device's midi thru port...just kidding)

Thanks again, I can't say enough about Metro!

I am not sure what you mean but there was a bug in Metro that was causing it not to find devices plugged through other devices. This should definitely be fixed in 6.0.8.1.
