I have an iBook 700 MHz and a Midiman 1x1...

I would like some advice on buying Metro. I want to do basic MIDI work with the built in QuickTime synthesizer. I would like to also record maybe one audio track... and be able to monitor it through headphones while listening to my MIDI tracks. Nothing fancy.

I have an iBook 700 MHz and a Midiman 1x1. I have successfully used Intuem, but that is a sequencer only... and a pretty crappy one for my purposes. I also realize that I will need an iMic or something to get audio in to the iBook.

My question: Can I use my setup for what I described? I'm most concerned about monitoring sounds while I record them through the computer's headphone jack. Like I said, I can do this in Intuem, but I'm not sure if this will work in Metro.

Thanks!

You should definitely be able to monitor quicktime sounds (internal) with the headphones. You may have problems with the IMic because it a USB device that uses the built-in apple USB driver and as such, the input has no knowledge of the output and visa versa. This makes play-thru virtually impossible.
