Keyboard controller makes no sound

Postby pawright » Tue Jun 10, 2003 7:57 am

I have a keyboard connected to my G4 PowerMac via Edirol USB interface.
I have read tutorials, but am having trouble getting the keyboard to play through the computer using the synth instruments. I guess I am not understanding how to set up ports or instruments. I have the setup set to reflect the OMS midi setup. I can hear the instruments and see the instrument in the Graphic window when I use the mouse to play the keys on the left side. However, when the keyboard is attached I can see the signal but not hear the sound of the synth instrument.

Paul,

In the switches menu, try turning automatic MIDI thru on. Then record enable the track that you want to hear and it should automatically appear in the transport window's MIDI thru field. You should then be able to play-thru.

From my understanding of what you wrote.......

you can hear quicktime instruments when playing the notes on the left hand side.

then afterwards when you connect your synth, it doesn't play?

this is probably because the notes are still playing from the QT instruments..........

back later after I install OMS.

Jerm,

The advice solved the problem. I am now encouraged to dig further and learn the program. Thanks. :D

I was about to say make sure your OMS setup can be tested and actually hear the synth but obviously its fixed.

You mention OMS....why not run in OSX? :)
