scrolling through MIDI file

A very useful feature would be the ability to scroll through a file in the Graphic Editor window using the "page up" and "page down" keys to avoid the necessity for clicking in the scrollbar.

Thank you.

This feature will be implemented in version 6.4 as well as using the '<' and '>' keys to emulate the pressing of the graphic editor horizontal scroll bar controls.

Too bad I caught this one a bit late.
I think the modifier keys should be consistent with the keys that are already used for scrolling up and down. if I were to use the pageUp/Down keys to scroll up/down, then I'd expect to use shift-page up or shift-page down to scroll sideways.

Let me give you an example.
I was doing something in photoshop and it supported this almost like what I had in mind.
if you scroll up and down a page. you'd use PgUp/PgDwn.
If you scroll up and down in increments (instead of a whole page), you'd use Shift-Pg Down/Up. consequently, if you use Command-PageUp or Down, it scrolls sideways a whole page horizontally. Add the shift to that combo (Cmnd-Shift-PgUp/Dwn) and it scrolls sideways by small increments.
Imho. I think all apps should be consistent that way. it takes the guessing away from trying to find new shorcuts.

This is what it trully pisses me off about M$ windows. The modifier keys don't make any sense in the OS itself.

I tried that but it does not work on MacBook pro's because you must hold fn->down-arrow to get page-down and so when you hold shift down you get shift->fn->down-arrow and not shift->page-down. I will try this on a different keyboard to see if it works there.

Jeremy,
I have a much better idea that would work on both laptops and desktops. And while pg up and pg up is a good thing, it's cumbersome on a laptop. You'd need 4 keys to scroll sideways and that isn't good enough. In fact, your original idea ( using < > ) fairs better in comparison. But hold your horses because I still think you could do better. Navigation is an important, and very overlooked issue.
In college, I worked as a temp computer lab technician for a few months. One thing I noticed, is that NOBODY uses pg up or pg down. With the exception of the savvy user, most would go either for the mouse, or the arrow keys to scroll within a document.
Let me test this on both my desktop and ibook, and I'll report later

Jeremy, I noticed that shift with any arrow combination, do functions that the arrows already do, by themselves, or with the command key.

for example, if I select a bar that has notes in it, I can shift the selected notes backwards and forwards in the timeline by pressing either the left, or right arrow.
if I hold the cmnd-key + either left/right arrow key. the exact same effect is achieved.

if I press on the up arrow a few times, it increases the note velocity. if I use shift + up/down arrow, same thing, note velocity increase/decrease.

in other words, shift + arrow keys are up for grabs.

What I think could work is to use the control key + arrows to scroll whole pages. You can use the shift key with the arrows to scroll in small increments.

let me know if any of this make any sense.

Earlier today I was trying to scroll sideways in photoshop (with my iBook's keyboard), and I had to hold 4 keys to get that to work. the fn + shift +cmnd + pg up. That's just ridiculous. On the other hand, using the actual arrow keys feels intuitive.
