Revo Arp --> Additional CC Lane (Modulation)

Postby Lytz1 » Sat Jan 27, 2018 10:51 am

Thinking about the Revo Arp:

Add an additional Lane for the Modwheel value per note (always CC1 I believe?):

Might be very cool, might be not. Not really sure.

Best,
tL.

(Or maybe also a Pitch Bend Lane? Maybe just Binary: Pitch bend full up/down on that note?)

I think you might need two lanes, especially for pitchbend so that you could specify the source and destination of the bend. Like for an octave bend 0 to 12. Where the bend from 0 to 12 steps occurs is still not specified but I suppose if you were to use ties the bend could start at the beginning of the step and end at the end of the step. For modulation why not just use the mod wheel while using the arp?

Sure. Recording Modwheel is fine. But a controller lane has its advantages for sure.
(However, on a second thought I also find the Pitchbend idea more interesting because
there's nothing like that outthere I know of.)

Regarding Modwheel Lane:
Well, first of all you need to record the modwheel all the time.
And you can't save it into RevoArp presets. Also it is pretty hard to edit CC data **per note**
right now in Metro. It can be done, though.

I think it's **very** hard to use modwheel/pitchbend manually on just one note with high
values inbetween two other notes with very low values...

Regarding a Pitchbend Lane:

True what you said. Two Lanes would obviously way more flexible and superior.
I was thinking about a quite simplistic approach: Starting always at 0/middle and going to the extreme or inverted
from the extreme to 0. On a per-note basis that might yield some very interesting results.
(Might come close to a guitar player bending the strings all the time.)

I also think that something more or less similar is already implemented in the Lead Generator?

Best,
tL.

The generator bends are much more sophisticated. Always bending at the beginning of the note and continuing until the end of the note is rather tiresome. But, as I said earlier, with the correct use of ties this could be very cool and as you said I don't think anything like it exists yet. You could do it will one lane and just have two bends in the lane: start bend : end bend. Or you could always start the bend at zero and just have a destination semi-tones field.

Also you are right with modwheel. I was thinking modwheel as vibrato but for something like cutoff frequency of a filter it would yield very nice result in the arpeggiator.
