save and restore cues

Postby cruzin » Wed Feb 23, 2005 10:26 pm

I use a sequencer as a practice tool. Once I get the song entered I use the computer as a "music minus one" machine so I can practice my part. Usually there are sections of the piece that are more difficult, so I like to loop these to practice them.

I need to be able to set up multiple sections for looping. Not just looping a single track, but the whole piece, all tracks. Cues work nicely for this except for 3 things:

1) I am limited to 4 cues
2) The cue start/stop cannot be edited -- I am limited to using the mouse to set start and stop
3) cues are not saved or restored with the project.

Note that I tried doing this with loops but found that it didn't work nearly as easily as cues. (In fact it didn't work well at all).

It would be great if the 3 things above could be addressed in the next software release.

thanks

I am not sure I understand number 2. If you have LX or the full version you can use set selection to set the cue. Is this the kind of thing you are talking about?

I have SE.

Maybe this will make it clearer:

If you set a marker, the initial time of the marker is set from the selection. But you get a pop up where you can enter the measure/beat/tick. You can also click on the marker at any time and change the measure/beat/tick by typing in new values.

Cues can only be set from the selection. It would be nice to have a way to "edit cue" where a pop up lets you type in the start and stop times.

This required a database change but is implemented in 6.2.7, which will be the next pre-release. This also required having cues dependent on the section. This means that you get 4 independent cues with each section or subsection.
