A mac keyboard piano mode for metro.

Postby Scoot » Sun Nov 23, 2003 5:05 am

I was wondering if a key combination on the keyboard (taking one at random - control tab perhaps?) could place metro into a mode where the qwerty keyboard could become a virtual keyboard?

At present in the graphic editor the key "a" puts you into aftertouch and key "d" puts you into drums.......so a virtual keyboard mode would have to disable all these.

The reason I suggest it, is because a lot of synth plugin windows take up the full screen at 1024x768.......and ones that don't contain a keyboard have to be left and you need to go to the piano roll in the graphic editor to hear them. If you had an external keyboard hooked up, that would do the trick but it is not always possible or available......especially when creating sounds.

A easy to reach key combination that played C1 (or a defined key) would do the trick if the above is impossible.

Yes this a good idea although not that easy to implement. Have you seen MIDIKeys?

Forget it!
Midikeys will do it well enough.
It took me longer to write the message than download the thing. :D

thanks

I wonder if it is possible to 'plug in' Midikeys as a native element of Metro. Right now, it's pretty clumsy, requiring a bunch of clicks going back and forth between the two apps. Just a thought.

Go into midikeys and in the prefs use a system wide hot key.

That way you can be in your plugin effect and hold down say 'control' with the keys on the mac keyboard and the synth or whatever will play without being in midikeys.

Hey, Thanks for the tip! I didn't try that yet. Perfect!
