Velocity control In GPO

Except for the piano and a few other percussion instruments the volume is controlled by the mod wheel. Metro's Graphic editor allows you to manipulate the velocity of the notes which controlls the volume. With GPO the velocity and the volume are controled by two different midi controlers (I guess)so you can't change note volume with the velocity tool except for the percussion instruments. Has GPO thrown a monkee wrench into standard midi sequencing by doing this. There is a option to reset to STD. CC#7/CC#10 for volume and pan but it didn't seem to make a difference. I can't post on their forum site for some reason and I have emailed as to why but I have not gotten a reply.

Any Ideas?

Yes. Frankly, I do not fully understand this approach. Volume should be controlled by controller 7. Everyone does this except GPO. One thing Metro 6.2.1.7 does is allow you to set up outputs (to GPO) that do not reset the modulation wheel. This may be helpful when playing back since GPO uses the modulation wheel for volume control.

For editing you can simply select controller:modulation in the graphic editor and edit volume that way.

Velocity control In GPO

Thanks for the help Jerm.
Using the mod wheel for volume does give a more human feel to the sequencing when used with attack velocity. The sustain pedal is even used for bowing up or down for strings so it seems GPO breaks the rules to achieve the final product. Their documentation could be a little more complete.

Also the wet instruments are now called wet audition and are not recommended for sequencing. They are impossible to use on a Mac. I wish Apple would come out with a suite of plugins that would do it right.
