SFX Machine RT Demo released

Postby Jazzdude » Sat Apr 19, 2003 9:46 pm

SFX Machine RT has been released and a demo is available.
I have not been able to get it to run with Metro 6.
Cannot get any audio output. Anybody else tried it?

It works because I know the developer tested with Metro.

We have been seeing this problem crop up a bunch lately. I know there is a problem where the Master Fader is not getting initialized correctly. Also make sure that the effects windows output points to a cool audio instrument.

Hi Jazzdude. Yes it works. Boy does it work!

- Launch metro and bring in your audio file.

- Go to the modify instruments and busses from the special menu and add 2 stereo aux busses at the bottom of the menu onto the audio controller bus.

- you can then do a command 9 and 0 to bring up the plugins and the effects windows. The effects window at the top probably says Track #1 and the name of the track.

- Click and hold on the name of the track and a popup should show the track name and 2 aux busses below it. Select Aux 1. Now Aux 1 and Aux 1 should be at the top. Drag you plugin of SFX Machine into this window.

- Do a command I and get up the instruments window. "Built-in aud-1" is the name of my audio track fader and you will see that the volume is at 127 (maximum volume). You can play the track and watch the meter registering the audio.

- In the top right of the window you see the word MAIN. Click and hold down and you will see MAIN, AUX 1 and AUX 2. These AUX names were created by you above. If you were to save preferences now, you will always have them. (go to preferences. click on save in the bottom left).

- Select Aux 1 and you will notice that the Built-in aud-1 fader is now at 0. This means there is no AUX 1 effect on the audio fader as yet. Slide it right up to 127.

- Play your audio track and now you can edit the plugins in the effects window.

Enjoy.

What you don't do is drag the plugin into the audio track because that turns the audio track into an effect track and you then see the midi keyboard down the left of the track. If that happens just delete the plug from the audio track, select audio as the port again if needed and your audio reappears.

You could setup SFX machine again on AUX 2 and have a different effect working on the track at the same time as AUX 1 is doing its thing.
2 Aux busses available in Metro SE and 8 busses in Metro.

S F X machine RT is working!

Postby Jazzdude » Mon Apr 21, 2003 7:12 am

It's now working!
There are two mistakes that I made. The first, was thinking that I had to change the port for the audio track to SFX machine R T. The second, was leaving the auxiliary fader for the audio track down. Once I changed these two things, everything worked fine.
Wow! So many high quality effects in this one plug-in. This is excellent!

The current release version of Metro 6 (6.0.5 & pre-release 6.0.6) does not support using a plug-in with both MIDI and audio (such as SFX Machine) as an offline effect edit. This will be fixed in 6.0.7.
