Plugins In Windows 7

Postby fastlanephil » Tue Nov 19, 2013 1:18 am

Hi Jeremy,

I have the latest Metro 7 running in Windows 7 in an Apple Bootcamp partition on my iMac. I've downloaded a couple of VST plugins for Windows and I believe I have them in the correct place, at least according to people's web posts about this subject. But they aren't showing up in Metro's plugin window. Clone Ensemble(Windows only and the plugin I'm interested in using) is 32-bit only and the other is the free Alchemy(just for testing here) which is 32 and 64-bit. I tried installing jBridge for Windows because it looks like Metro for Windows is 64-bit(?) but no luck using jBridge.

Is there something I'm overlooking? I have just a passing familiarity with MS Windows so I might need pointing in the right direction.

Thanks

Hello Phil,

Yes you should be sure that the plug-ins are in a place that Metro searches and that they of the correct type (32 or 64 bit). You can review the search paths by visiting the VST tab of the preferences dialog. If you want to search multiple paths you can simply create a folder in explorer and put aliases/shortcuts to all the paths you want to search within that folder. Then point Metro to that folder in the preferences dialog.

If the type is not correct the plug-in will not load but still should show up in the plug-ins window. If JBridge is installed the plug-in should load.

Also Metro on the PC is both 32 and 64. The installer lets you decide if you want to install one or both versions. Perhaps you should uninstall and just install the 32 bit version.

I reinstalled Metro 7 32-bit, set the VST path and now have been able to load the Clone Ensemble demo into Effects/Synths.

Thank You!
