You should not be able to create an aux buss on sampletank. This is a bug, fixed in 6.07i1.

Good news. I was able to contact the CTO of IK Multimedia the makers of Sampletank so I am hoping we will see a positive resolution to the authorization issue in OS X.

Some Questions...

Does Sampletank Free only allow 6 notes of polyphony? Is Sampletank Free a "demo" version, or is it the full version that needs to be "unlocked"?

Does anyone have an opinion about Sampletank LE?[/u]

Sean,

I think Sampletank free can authorized to get more polyphony. This is not the full version though. I am a little confused about the serial number though. Where would one obtain a serial number? I do know (see other post in effects/plugins related to SampleTank) that SampleTank's authorization dialog will crash and unfortunately you need to go there to get your Digital ID so that you can obtain a authorization code.

I have been using the L version for a long time and now I have it working in OS X. It is, in my humble opinion, the BEST sampler plug-in in terms of sound quality, ease of use and stability for the money right now.

Sampletank Free can be authorized and the 6 notes will then jump to 32!

I think when you register the free version with them you get a serial or its in the program already perhaps and when you register you give over your digital ID, so you may need to look at the crashing authorization dialog box once to see what it is to then put into that .txt document Jerm was talking about. It's been a few years since I got my serial I don't remember where it came from. It's there somewhere. :)

When I originally got my authorization code off them I kept it as a doc and put it on a CD of audio things. When Jerm told us the authorization work around I got it out and stupidily put in the Digital ID as the serial number (yes it has been a long time!) and put in the authorization code under it. It didn't work and then I had to go back and find the serial again. Duh.

When they send you an email with the authorization is lists the code and the digital ID. Seems silly not to include the serial number in the email.

I assume the authorization is based on your digital ID and even if you were to obtain someone elses authorization code, it wouldn't work.
Very good copy protection.

If this is true and the serial number is in the program, one could later resubmit registration to them and receive the same authorization code so you don't even have to write it down. :)

One interesting thing about Sampletank is that if you were to buy one of the add on CD's like one full of drums or pianos, you get Sampletank LE with it for the $99.

Sampletank LE (standard LE is only $79 - 4 midi channels and one stereo output, 128 poly) is full of instruments that you may pretty well already have on a synth.

Buying a drum CD though may more than triple the selection of drums you have if you're getting a little bored with your synth ones.
