Very good news.

From the dialog I have had with Access, it appears that there is no way via AU to tell 100% of the time if a note is realtime or not. At least not until Leopard (10.5?) is released. Since they have defined their plug-in to have a 4000 sample latency this could be very important. You do not want a note to be played either 4000 samples early or late.

This is quite possible. This will be addressed in version 6.4. In the meantime simply insert a measure of silence if necessary.
Paul wrote:Last question: can you explain to me how I can bounce the Virus' signal to Metro? I've not yet been able to do this.
This is, to me, one of the shortcomings of the Virus TI system. Don't get me wrong, I think Access has done an incredible job and the sound that comes out of the Virus is really phat, but I think they should come up with a way to allow bouncing of audio faster (or even slower) than real time out of the plug-in. Currently they bring up an error message.
Luckily, Metro has a direct output recording feature that you can use. Simply record enable an audio track and then from the input selector of the tracks window select 'direct output'. The reorded audio will be 100% identical to what goes out to the CoreAudio driver.

Thank you.
