Saving Sample Tank Settings

Postby hallhenry » Fri Aug 15, 2003 10:09 am

I have Sample Tank up and running. However, I cannot seem to save the sounds and settings I assigned to individual channels of a particular project. When I reopen the program, the Sampletank settings are gone.

What can i do?

thanks...hh

I also have Sampletank XL but I do not have this problem. Perhaps something is wrong in your sampletank settings file.

:(
Hi Jerm:

What's Sampletank setting file? How do you do it?

Also, i have a 14 track piece utilizing all sampletank sounds. However, it's giving my 1gig processor some trouble. I cut off most of the sound modifications like reverb and delay on most tracks, but still it stalls to get thru the tune.

Can you recommend how else I can reduce the CPU usage ?

thanks...hh

"What's Sampletank setting file? How do you do it?"

It's the file that you modified to install Sampletank (Since the sampletank dialog crashes). I would just take a look at the file to make sure the directory paths are correct.

"Also, i have a 14 track piece utilizing all sampletank sounds. However, it's giving my 1gig processor some trouble....Can you recommend how else I can reduce the CPU usage ?"

What I usually do is use sampletank on aux 1, turn off all the reverbs and place a reverb on aux 2 (I like the reverb from wavearts because it makes nice use of processor resources and still sounds good). Then I route the sampletank sounds that I want reverb on, to sampletank outputs 3+4 which I route to aux 2. Other effects in sampletank besides reverb can be processor intensive, so if you can, turn those off as well.

If you want the original sounds or if you just don't have enough processor power, simply mix the desired tracks to audio. To do this Solo the tracks you want and then use file:mix-audio-tracks. Then archive the originals.

If you ever need to change the tracks you can go back, unarchive and edit the MIDI and then re-mix to audio.

The nice thing about wavearts' reverb is that it doesn't sound like a reverb.
Does that make sense? Probably not.

It's very subtle as opposed to the standard AUReverb that is heavy on the verb.

The wavearts one adds to the audio but doesn't overdo it.
