Deleting a SysEx

Postby buserror » Fri Mar 07, 2003 10:18 am

I tried many things, but I can't seem to be able to delete a SysEx. The event editor window doen't allow to select a line, and the graphical editor forces pop up a window with the content if I click on the sysex. Trying to empty it from there (clearing the hex data) doesn't work either.

Delete and Edit of SysEx works well with me, i.e. there is a mark at the beginning of the line in event editor and i can use the delete key.
But i have a similiar related problem: After import of a midi file i cannot delete bank select and program change messages within the event editor, because the corresponding lines are not markable. So i have to delete these messages by setting the entries in the track window to "--". In summary i think that the update dependencies between the FOUR windows, namely track-event-graphic-instrument are rather complicated (not to say mysterious).

Yes. Fred is correct in deleting sysex. You may also delete it by having display sysex events in the graphic editor, (and this is important) select the arrow tool, select the sysex event and clear.

As for bank/program events. These are special events. The reason for this is because if you delete all the data off of a given track you do (most likely) not want to change the sound of the given track.

TIP: to select these events, open the event editor and option-click on the left most selection column. This will change the status of the event from special to normal. It may then be deleted normally.

Of course the easy way to remove them is to select '--' in their popups.
