Maximum number of MIDI channels?

I was wondering about the maximum number of addressable MIDI channels since I still use a large number of hardware synths, MIDI controlled hardware effects, and multiple soft synth laptops. Will Metro address all 256 MIDI channels if I run two MOTU MIDI Express 128's?
