Sticky MIDI during Record Audio of same track.

Hi, again! I am up and running, having transferred all my midi files onto the HD where my Metro files live. Also, I have managed to workout the monitoring of MIDI trax as I lay test vocals. I have run into a snag, though.

During the actual RECORDING of those MIDI-based tracks to an Audio listening track, I keep getting a sticking note and a few random stutters in the timing. It's usually not a percussion or drum, but is instead, an organ, etc that sticks. I tested to make sure it was not the interface (FireFly 302), itself. I also checked to see if it would do the same thing if I created a Sequence from scratch: same sticky result as the transferred MIDI songs. On a whim, I also tested to see if removing the Firewire HDD and saving directly on the laptop would make a difference: Nope.

I am stumped! Any ideas from the dream team, or the pew?

Well without more information I would try changing the buffer sizes. Are these external MIDI tracks or synth-type plugins?

What is the speed of the external hard disk? What are the specs of your computer? What OS are you running? What is the digital audio buffer size set to? What are you record buffer size (preferences) and settings set to?

Can you send me the MIDI file?

What is the speed of the external hard disk? 7200rpm
What are the specs of your computer? PowerBook Pismo G3, 400mhz, 512MB SDRAM,
What OS are you running? OS 10.3.9

What is the digital audio buffer size set to? 1024 - 23.2 MS packet size

What are you record buffer size (preferences) and settings set to? Hmmm.. for Sysex 9K, PlaybackAllocate: 256K, Record? 0K (I have not done anything to it)

Can you send me the MIDI file? I just made one up, and I don't know where to look for just the MIDI file in that test session. Sorry, the other materials are under lock..

If you email me the Metro document I may be able to do some analysis on this problem.
