virtual keyboard

You would think that I would know this but I don't.

A friend has no midi gear. She is trying to create a song in GB2 that was left installed on a used mac she purchased.

In my pre OS X days there were virtual keyboards that could be mapped or were pre-mapped by default to allow the user to "play" apple's qwerty keyboard.

Is there an OS X virtual qwerty keyboard that can be used in any application through the apple core midi/audio services?

Or perhaps GB's virtual keyboard can be mapped to a qwerty. I don't know enough about GB because I trashed it away back when
