Making A Plug-In Multitimbral

In order to have my DLSMusicDevice show up at an AUX BUS in the MIXER Window I have to open the PLUG-INS Window and make the DLSMusicDevice Multitimbral

Should I have to redo that process (open the PLUG-INS Window and make the DLSMusicDevice Multitimbral) each time I shut and re-open a document.

Is'nt there a way to save that setting (e.g Save DLSMusicDevice as Multitimbral) so that when I re-open a document the DLS MusicDevice (or whatever plug-in I happen to have chosen) shows up in the AUX BUS and my volume and pan settings for that AUX BUS channel are saved ?

I am confused by this. You mean by ctrl-clicking on the plug-in in the plug-ins window and selecting 'multi-timbral'? Or do you mean instantiating the DLS Music Device so that it is available. To do tSaganTechHostPluginInfohe latter you simply select it from the graphic editor.

If the problem is that you only get a single channel of output when you instantiate the DLSMusicDevice then you should remove the file 'SaganTechHostPluginInfo' from user/library/preferences. This may be due to your permissions not set correctly or the file may have been locked or otherwise corrupted.

In any case you do not need to save the multi-timbral setting. This is done automatically.

The DLSMusicDevice remains multitimbral if you select it as multi and then you save off the metro preferences. Quit and launch metro and it's there.

If you've saved the document, reopening it, will put everything to the levels and settings as to where you saved it.
Before hitting play or the spacebar maybe you want to turn off automation play in the mixer window?

I meant ctrl-clicking on the plug-in, in the plug-ins window to make it multitimbral and then assigning it to a track.

When I do it this way it shows up on an AUX BUS output which is what I wanted it to do.

Then when I save and close the document and later re-open it the the plug-in that I made multitimbral remains assigned to the track in the Graphic Editor Window but is no longer multitimbral nor is it routed thru an AUX BUS.

I again have to make it multitimbral by deleting it from the track in the Graphic Editor Window, ctrl-clicking on the plug-in, in the plug-ins window to make it multitimbral and then re-assigning it to the track.

As a result of this process my volume/pan settings on the AUX BUS were lost so they have to be reset.

I also have tried Scoot's suggestion of selecting the plug-in as multi and then you saving off the metro preferences. That was also unsuccessful.

I removed SaganTechHostPluginInfo from the Prefs folder and the problem immediately corrected itself (at least for now.)

Yes. Metro's view of your plug-ins will revert back to the factory settings. So if you had assigned multi-timbral to a plug-in named, for example, "superMIDIplug" then you will have to re-do that setting.

You could take a look at the file you removed and see if it is damaged or locked or has incorrect permissions, fix it, and put it back in preferences.

How do I do this ?

To check permissions, in the finder, get info and under ownership and permissions it should say 'read & write'. If not open the details tab (10.3.x anyway) click the lock icon so it is unlocked and then select your username. Then set access to read & write.
