midi on metro jukebox

Postby jude » Thu Jul 01, 2004 11:57 pm

What would be the easiest way to quickly access midi files from metro? I would like to be able to make "setlists" so I can quickly choose a file and play it for live performance. I can't find how to do that in jukebox. When I try to add a new folder, the midi file options are greyed out. I must be missing an important piece of information about how to set up my jukebox. It does play midi, right?

Does it play midi?

I don't know....I thought it was like itunes for mp3's etc.

Drop a whole bunch of midi files on the metro icon and have the sections window open.

save and you have your list.
(there's 3 buttons at the top of the sections window. The one on the left when down, plays through all the midi files).

ps. how's the triton?

jukebox confusion

Postby jude » Fri Jul 02, 2004 4:45 am

so, do i just drag the file that has all my edited midis onto the metro icon? i tried that but a window came up saying that the file was not found. so i tried to go into the jukebox and add a new folder but it seemed as though it didn't take all the midis with it. do i need to individually put the midis in the sections window? sorry, these might be stupid questions.

and the triton???? well, i ran out of time before i really had to get the midi files going. i'll eventually get back to it and allocate the instruments to particular tracks. one question, though, how can i get the midis to play the triton sounds and not the GM sounds? anyway, i already have a cheapie yamaha psr-172 that plays them perfectly so i'm just gonna hook up the G4 to it and play the midis through it while i play the triton live. thanks for asking, and again, for all your help.

This is the correct way to do it. Select a bunch of MIDI files and drop them on the Metro Icon in the finder. This will open them up as separate sections in the sections window.

TIP: before you do this, in Metro select the output device port that all imports will be assigned to. For Example, in the tracks window click in the output column and select "edit port" and select PSR. Then after importing all the MIDI files they will be assigned to that default port. In this case the PSR.

No. The jukebox is for audio. The sections window is like a MIDI jukebox among other things.

As for using the Triton sounds, you can definitely do it but it may be time consuming. You will have to assign the individual tracks to the Triton and you will need to change any program/bank changes in the tracks to the appropriate ones on the Triton since the standard banks are not GM compatible.

why would a file not found message appear?

2 metro apps on the hard drive - downloading a new one and not removing the old one?

old files not importing into new metro?....or is it new files trying to be imported into old incompatible 6.08 metro? :?:

File not found is probably an alias to a deleted file or perhaps an erroneous error that should say "invalid file format" or "no sound file found"
