MIDI playback problems with M-Audio Firewire 410

Postby rtf » Mon Jan 05, 2004 10:16 pm

I am using a DPG5 with Panther and just purchased an M-Audio Firewire 410. I have a Sound Canvas connected to the 410. I am trying out software before making a purchase, so I am only using the demo version at the moment. I can't seem to get MIDI playback through Metro. AMS is telling me I'm hooked up correctly, I can record with Metro from a keyboard attached to the SC, but after trying as many things as I can think of, still no playback.

Any help would be appreciated.

rtf,

We need more info. Do you see the ports of the sound canvas in Metro? If so you should visit the create outputs and busses dialog to create some outputs that point to the sound canvas and then assign those outputs to tracks in the tracks window (or graphic editor).

To check that metro is 'seeing' the sound canvas open metro and go to the setup menu and select midi setup at the bottom.

This should show you want is available to you if the audio/midi setup is configured correctly.

Then it is just a matter of modifying outputs as Jerm said.

It also pays to check the homepage for the M-Audio Firewire 410 to make sure you have the latest driver for it........especially since you're in Panther.

I had similar one way problems with a midi interface and it was all due to a slightly buggy driver and when sometimes disconnecting, would take it offline even after reconnection. (midisport 2x2).

I'd like to know how this works out for you because I definitely want to buy the M-audio firewire 410. I will be using it for audio and not midi initially but will probably buy a midi keyboard at somepoint. Let me know if you get this working with metro or any other software for that matter.
