Output midi file to port 1...

I have retired my Sony Vaio laptop that I used to "drive" our Disklavier piano. I have a new iBook G4 and have downloaded MetroSE
 
On the pc I used Calkwalk Home Studio 9.0 to edit downloaded midi files to:
1. Edit the piano track assigning it to channel 1 which would "drive" the keyboard.
2. Adjust the overall volume (velocity)
3. Output the file to a midiman minisport 1x1 usb midi adapter, which connected to the piano.
4. Provide a playlist

I have been able to change the channel assigment, adjust the velocity,
but I do not understand how to output the midi to the port 1.

We would need to know what port 1 is? I presume it is a port on a multi-port interface. If so, then you may need a MIDI driver. What OS are you using? What is the MIDI interface?

In general under OS X, you should create a studio setup using the AMS (Audio MIDI Setup) program and then in Metro, from the Special menu, select modify outputs and busses and then 'make the setup relfect the studio document'. This will create outputs in Metro that reflect the studio setup configured earlier. Then the final step is to select the output (which is a port/channel configuration) in the tracks window.

Alternatively you could select the output popup from the tracks window and select 'edit port...' and then specify the port.

Are you trying to play the midi in metro and have it playing on the Disklavier?

Is the midisport appearing in the audio midi setup?
Audio Midi Setup is in your applications folder, and then inside the Utilities folder.

With the correct driver (3.1 is the current version unless they've up'ed it lately) it should appear and then you can create your piano as an external device that you run virtual cables to the midisport.
